The OBX has surprisingly low light pollution for the East Coast — even in the busier towns you'll see more stars than you're used to. For the best of it, head south of Nags Head where the sky genuinely opens up. No gear required, just get away from the beach road, lie down, and look up. One of those things you'll kick yourself for missing.
