A soundside day use area on Hatteras Island just south of Salvo, offering calm Pamlico Sound waters that are perfect for families with young kids — think lake, not ocean. Bathhouse, picnic tables, grills, and a massive parking lot. Great for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing with easy access to inlets and waterways just south of the beach area. Popular with kiteboaders and windsurfers too. Free to access as part of Cape Hatteras National Seashore.
