Ocracoke Preservation Society
A free admission museum housed in the century-old David Williams House, the historic home of the first Chief of the U.S. Coast Guard station on Ocracoke. Saved from demolition in 1989 and restored, the house now serves as the Ocracoke Preservation Society's museum, with a research library and offices upstairs. On the National Register of Historic Places. A genuinely meaningful stop for understanding the island's history beyond the typical tourist experience.
