Jockey's Ridge State Park

The tallest natural sand dune system on the East Coast, right in Nags Head. Free to visit, stunning at sunset, and one of those places that genuinely stops you in your tracks. Fly a kite, watch hang gliders launch, run down the dunes at full speed, or just sit up top and watch the light change. An OBX must.
