At the end of NC Highway 12 just past the ferry docks in Hatteras Village, the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum tells the story of the hundreds of ships that have wrecked in these waters over the centuries. The building itself is designed to look like a ship, and the exhibits are genuinely fascinating. Free admission.
