Ghost Crab Hunting
One of the best free activities on the OBX and most visitors never think to try it. After dark, Atlantic ghost crabs emerge from their sandy burrows and patrol the shoreline in droves. All you need is a flashlight and a quiet beach. Stick close to the water line, move slowly, and watch them scatter when the light hits them. Completely harmless, endlessly entertaining, and genuinely one of the most memorable things you can do on an OBX night.
