Currituck Beach Lighthouse

The last major brick lighthouse built on the Outer Banks, completed in 1875 in Corolla and standing 162 feet tall with 220 steps to the top. Unlike its OBX counterparts, the Currituck Beach Lighthouse was never painted — its natural red brick is its identifying mark. Open for climbing since 1991, the views from the outdoor gallery are spectacular. The original first-order Fresnel lens still functions and lights up every night. One of the most beautiful and climbable lighthouses on the entire East Coast.
