Avalon Fishing Pier
A classic OBX fishing pier in Kill Devil Hills, first built in 1958 and stretching 700 feet out over the Atlantic. Day, multi-day, and season passes are available, and the on-site tackle shop has everything you need — bait, rentals, and cold beer. When the fish are biting you can pull blues, flounder, trout, pompano, Spanish mackerel, cobia, and kings. The Stonefish Beach Bar sits right on the pier with covered outdoor seating, ocean views, and live music most summer nights — worth a stop even if you never touch a fishing rod.
